Objectives

Forests have undergone significant changes in recent decades. They face a variety of challenges that affect the way they work and their ability to provide different benefits to nature and people. Although forests in Europe have become healthier in some respects, many remain at risk from problems such as air and water pollution, loss of habitats and diverse wildlife, and the growth of cities into forested areas. With the increasing demand for biomass, forests are expected to come under greater ecological pressure, requiring a holistic policy framework and sound governance (Europen Enviromen Agency Summit Report). The objectives of our project "Young Guardians of Forest and Nature" and what we want to achieve are as follows: Our main objective is to empower young people to become proactive advocates and protectors of the environment by providing them with knowledge, skills and opportunities to engage in forest and nature conservation work. The main reason why we want to realize this project is that we want to develop a sense of forest and nature conservation and environmental responsibility among young people, empower them to take ownership of forest and nature conservation and environmental issues and contribute to positive change in their communities through Erasmus+programme youth workers mobility. Another aim is to raise awareness and deepen understanding of forest ecosystems, biodiversity and environmental protection principles among young people through planned activities, hands-on learning and participatory workshops. In this way, by providing engaging and informative educational experiences, our project will contribute to raising a generation of environmentally literate youth, equipped to make informed decisions and take action to conserve forests and nature. Another objective is to facilitate youth-led environmental action and community engagement initiatives that address both national and European as well as local environmental issues, promote sustainable practices and contribute to the conservation of forests and natural habitats. In this context, through our mobility of youth workers project we will emphasize the importance of empowering young people to lead and participate in meaningful projects and initiatives that address issues relevant to their communities. By facilitating youth-led forest and nature conservation and environmental action, our project will harness the energy, creativity and passion of young people to promote positive change and make a tangible impact on the environment. Our project objectives and the activities we plan to achieve them will develop the leadership and teamwork skills of youth workers and young people. We will develop leadership, teamwork and cooperation skills among young participants through practical activities, group activities, presentations and peer-to-peer learning opportunities. Youth work practices within the Erasmus+ programme recognize the importance of unlocking leadership potential and promoting positive social interactions among young people. By engaging participants in collaborative activities and team-based work, our project will develop essential life skills that are transferable to a variety of contexts and empower young people to become effective leaders and change makers in their communities. One of the priorities of the Ersamus+ programme is transnational cooperation and capacity building of organizations. From this point of view, we want to have a positive impact on our organizations by increasing our capacity to work transnationally, developing and strengthening European networks centered on European values. By sharing and exploring ideas, practices and methodologies relevant to young people, we want to help young people develop themselves, have a positive impact on well-being and thus support, engage and empower young people to participate in civic, social and economic life in Turkey and across Europe. By putting some of these learnings and ideas into practice with our own local stakeholders, we want to have a positive impact on forest and nature conservation, environment and climate in each of the countries in the project partnership organization. Consequently, the objectives of our project "Young Guardians of Forest and Nature" from the perspective of Erasmus+programme mobility of youth workers are to empower young people, promote environmental education and awareness, facilitate youth-led environmental action, build leadership and teamwork skills and enhance personal development and well-being. In line with these objectives, the project aims to create meaningful opportunities for young people to engage with environmental issues, develop essential life skills and make a positive impact on their communities and the world around them.
