Objectives

Rivers flowing through cities are important elements that have meaning for young people not only in a local context, but also from a global perspective. This encourages young people to explore the past, be sensitive to nature, improve intercultural communication and contribute to a sustainable future. In line with EU values, young people can preserve this rich heritage and interact as part of the global community. Europe's cities with rivers flowing through them have an important cultural and historical richness for young people. It is an important enrichment for young people to see the cities of Europe with rivers flowing through them and to hear the culture and history specific to the region from the mouth of the locals. With this project, it is aimed for 18-year-old young people to experience an intercultural journey by visiting the cities where the Danube, Rhine and Elbe rivers pass, which are among the largest rivers in Europe. By providing an opportunity for these young people with fewer opportunities to understand the history and importance of Europe, it is aimed to broaden their worldview and evaluate different perspectives. With this, it is aimed to encourage young people to travel sustainably, raise their environmental awareness and direct them to take environmental responsibility. It is expected that this project will provide an experience that adds value to young people's lives and will also contribute to intercultural dialogue in Europe. By connecting young people through DiscoverEU, the aim is for young people in Diyarbakır to have the opportunity to connect with other youth in Europe and build a sense of intercultural community.
