Objectives

The main objective of the project is to specifically involve disadvantaged youth living in the counties of Heves, Nógrád, and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, who come from various backgrounds and circumstances. These young people often face barriers due to their origin, socio-economic status, or educational opportunities, which make it difficult for them to participate in international programs. Within the framework of the DiscoverEU project, the aim is to promote the personal, social, and professional development of young people while exploring Europe’s cultural diversity. The project is built upon three key objectives. The first is to develop language competence, where participants will operate in a foreign language environment and practice their language skills on a daily basis. This provides them with the opportunity to improve their language abilities in real-life situations, such as communicating with local residents. The second objective focuses on developing active citizenship and intercultural competences, where the travels allow participants to experience Europe’s diverse cultures, contributing to their openness, empathy, and tolerance. These experiences help young people to become more conscious and active members of the European community, strengthening their European identity and cooperation. During the travels, we also aim to enhance participants' digital competencies. The program provides opportunities to use digital tools and platforms to plan and document their journeys, such as mobile applications, e-tickets, online maps, and social media. This helps them develop digital skills that will be useful in their future studies and careers. Through the use of digital technologies, participants learn how to manage online tools effectively while also focusing on sustainability by minimizing the use of paper-based materials. From the perspective of youth work, the project aims to provide experiences that promote not only personal growth but also a commitment to community and social engagement. Young people will learn how to become active, responsible European citizens while acquiring skills that benefit them not only in everyday life but also in the job market. The program places special emphasis on engaging disadvantaged youth, providing them with the tools and support necessary to overcome barriers and become full participants in society. Overall, the project aims to ensure that participating young people gain not only travel experiences but also a deeper understanding of the European community, along with skills that support independent and successful career paths.
