Objectives

The objectives of the project were centered on using this youth exchange to foster inclusion, diversity, and empowerment for all participants, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The overarching aim was to provide a transformative experience that directly addressed and dismantled various barriers faced by the youth. The project aimed to achieve the following specific objectives: 1. Enhancing Inclusion and Diversity Foster a Culture of Acceptance. To create a safe and supportive environment where youth from diverse backgrounds (including care-experienced, LGBTI+, Traveller, and international youth) felt valued, respected, and fully included. Promote Intercultural Dialogue. To facilitate meaningful and direct interaction between the Irish and Italian participants to promote mutual understanding and appreciation for different social and ethnic backgrounds. 2. Breaking Down Barriers Dismantle Social and Political Barriers. To encourage participants to challenge and reflect on the social biases that divide communities and restrict opportunity for disadvantaged youth. Overcome Geographic Isolation. To specifically target and empower rural youth and those facing geographic limitations by providing them with an international travel and learning opportunity, broadening their worldview beyond their immediate locality. 3. Personal Development and Empowerment Build Confidence and Resilience. To offer engaging activities and challenges that push participants outside their comfort zones, leading to measurable growth in personal confidence and resilience. Develop Core Social Skills. To provide practical opportunities for youth to practice essential skills like communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution in a diverse international setting. Foster Agency. To empower participants to recognize their potential as agents of change within their own lives and communities.
