The project aimed to improve the digital financial literacy of senior citizens and reduce their risk of financial exclusion in an increasingly digital society. It sought to equip seniors with practical skills and confidence to independently use digital financial services, such as online banking, e-payments, and AI-based customer support tools. Another key objective was to strengthen the competencies of adult educators by providing them with innovative tools and methodologies to effectively support senior learners. The project also aimed to introduce learner-centred, flexible and blended learning approaches adapted to the needs and abilities of older adults. In addition, the project intended to promote awareness of digital risks and safe behaviour in online financial environments. Overall, the project sought to empower seniors to become active, confident and secure users of digital financial services, while supporting organisations in delivering more inclusive, accessible and high-quality adult education.
The project was initiated in response to the rapid digitalisation of financial services and the significant gap in digital financial literacy among senior citizens. Many older adults face challenges in accessing and using online banking, e-payments, and other digital tools, increasing their risk of financial exclusion, dependency, and exposure to fraud. At the same time, adult education providers often lack practical, tailored tools and methodologies to effectively support seniors, particularly in areas such as AI-based customer support and digital risk awareness. The project addressed these needs by developing accessible, user-friendly learning content adapted to seniors, while also strengthening the competencies of adult educators. It introduced innovative, learner-centred and blended learning approaches, including the use of AI tools. Ultimately, the project aimed to empower seniors to become more confident, independent, and safe users of digital financial services, while enhancing the capacity of organisations to deliver inclusive and high-quality education.
