EN The idea for this project came as a logical continuation of our previous work with Kaunata Secondary School and successful collaborations with other schools in Latgale. In previous projects, such as "Kaunata Runā Europā" and "Skaidrā Prātā", we observed the great importance of inter-school and inter-municipal cooperation in strengthening youth participation and civic awareness. These projects proved that young people are able to lead initiatives themselves and influence their society by building strong contacts with representatives of other schools. Taking into account this positive experience, "Latgale School Express" was created to not only continue the efforts started, but also expand them. The project provided an opportunity for an even wider group of students from different schools in Latgale to participate in joint activities, developing their leadership skills, promoting cooperation and supporting active participation at the regional and European level. We implemented this project to address several key issues and needs that are specific to young people in the Latgale region. First, as a region with relatively high social and economic inequality, it was important for Latgale to strengthen the opportunities and inclusion of young people in the wider society. Many young people here come from rural areas, socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, single-parent families or ethnic minorities, which reduces their access to educational and participation opportunities. As part of the project, we provided support to these groups of young people by promoting their involvement in public life, developing cooperation between schools and strengthening inter-governmental ties in the Latgale region. The main goal of the project was to promote the active participation of young people in Latgale, especially from rural areas and disadvantaged families, at the local and international level, strengthening inter-school and inter-governmental cooperation, developing responsibility, self-confidence and motivation, as well as introducing them to European opportunities and values through educational trips. The sub-objectives of the project were: to promote the active participation of young people from Latgale, especially from rural areas and disadvantaged families, on a local and international scale; to develop inter-school and inter-municipal cooperation in order to promote the strengthening of long-term relationships between different schools in Latgale; to strengthen the responsibility, self-confidence and motivation of young people by participating in educational trips and getting to know the opportunities and values of Europe.
