“EmpowerED: from ideas to action” was created to open the Erasmus+ door wider for teens who didn’t know it existed, or thought it wasn’t for them. Too many under-18s are invisible in mobility programmes. We wanted to change that. Our objectives were: Make Erasmus+ visible, accessible, and real to young people aged 14–17, especially those with fewer opportunities Demystify Erasmus+: how it works, who it’s for, and what impact it can have, not through lectures, but through experience Equip teens to return home as micro-ambassadors, able to speak confidently about youth exchanges in their schools, youth centres, and communities Support them to design their own project ideas, proving that Erasmus+ is not just something you join, it’s something you can create Strengthen collaboration between organisations already working with teens in challenging or under-resourced contexts, and test new youth-led methods that can be reused locally and internationally At its core, this project was a call-to-action: to make Erasmus+ feel like a tool in their hands, not a programme in someone else’s. Building on the momentum of EmpowerED, and the strong results achieved during the week Projekta Malta has already submitted a new Erasmus+ youth exchange proposal under the February 2025 deadline. This next project will expand on the digital engagement skills participants began exploring here, demonstrating that EmpowerED was not only a starting point but a springboard into further action.
