The main aim of this youth exchange project was to equip young people with a broad and inclusive understanding of European identity, enhance their sense of belonging to Europe, and empower them to become active and engaged citizens. Through interactive and participatory learning, the project sought to develop participants’ critical thinking, foster dialogue, and raise awareness of European values and issues. The specific objectives of the project were: To raise awareness and encourage reflection on what it means to be European, allowing participants to express and exchange their views and experiences. To create a safe and inclusive environment where young people could openly share their perspectives on the European Union, using a learning-by-doing approach to promote deeper understanding and engagement. To facilitate dialogue and solidarity by exploring the feelings of support and being supported within the European context, fostering empathy and mutual respect. To give visibility to youth facing challenges related to diversity, inclusion, and civic participation, while encouraging all participants to be more active and open-minded citizens. By bringing together young people from different backgrounds and political realities, the project aimed to promote intercultural understanding and European cooperation. Youth exchanges were identified as an ideal format to achieve these goals, as they empower young people to develop personally, socially, and civically through meaningful cross-cultural experiences.
