Objectives

The work in the Youth Council (UR)/Youth Municipal Council (UKS) starts anew each autumn, as a large part of the members are replaced annually. It has been shown that the youth need a long time to get acquainted with the work/tasks and to become comfortable enough with each other to work well together. Additionally, one of the goals is to involve a larger group of youth than those elected as members of the UR/UKS. The aim is for the youth to get to know and feel comfortable with each other so that the start of the work in the new youth council/youth municipal council (UKS) goes more smoothly and quickly. They should get to know the resource persons they can rely on and become aware of which topics they personally wish to continue working on in the youth council/UKS. Furthermore, the goal was to agree on which topics they consider most important and prioritize in the future. Learning from other youth is also an important element of the gathering, as the "new" members see, hear, and experience how youth with more experience conduct parts of or the entire event. By having the youth conduct a large part of the event, the goal is to achieve a different kind of knowledge transfer than if the event were conducted by adults. Furthermore, building social contacts within their own municipality and across municipal borders is important. This increases the social competence of the youth. As both councils were facing a generational shift, the transfer of knowledge from those who have been involved for a long time was a central element of the work. Since both youth councils are represented in the youth committee at the county level, it was important to inform about and establish contacts for this work. Additionally, the goal was to inform about the opportunities available in various support schemes in the Erasmus+ Youth project, so that more youth can enjoy participating in projects and meeting other youth from other European countries.
