Through the DiscoverEU Inclusion project, we wanted to give young people who face fewer opportunities the chance to experience Europe in a safe, supported, and meaningful way. Our aim was to lower barriers to mobility and make international travel accessible, not as tourism, but as a learning journey. We wanted participants to build confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging in Europe by travelling together, taking responsibility, and learning through real-life situations across borders. The main objectives were to strengthen participants’ personal and social skills through sustainable travel, intercultural encounters, and shared responsibility. We aimed to develop independence, communication, adaptability, and intercultural understanding, while promoting European values such as inclusion, solidarity, active citizenship, and respect for diversity. Another key objective was to create a safe and supportive framework that allowed participants to explore Europe, reflect on their experiences, and grow at their own pace, both individually and as part of a group.
