The project "Astrotrip – Towards the Setting Sun" aligns with the statutory activities of the Antares Foundation and addresses the need for the organization's development. The project's goal is to enhance interest in astronomy among the participants – young people with fewer opportunities. It meets their needs for exploring the world and developing their own interests. During their journey across Europe, culminating in observations of a total solar eclipse in Spain, participants will develop intercultural competencies and conduct their own scientific experiment, confirming the validity of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity. Eddington's experiment can only be performed during a total solar eclipse. Young people with fewer opportunities will have a chance to travel across Europe and experience cultural diversity. Offering them such opportunities fosters a sense of belonging to the European community. This is especially important for those who, due to their background or financial situation, rarely leave their environment. The youth participating in the project will learn by experiencing different cultures, benefiting from elements of non-formal education and the assistance of a person supporting the learning process, which is a valuable addition to traditional school education. Each educational trip will include two members from the project team, whose task will be to support the participants' learning process and assist with logistics. Assigning such responsible roles to young people will positively impact their self-confidence, social engagement, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills.
