Objectives

The project's primary goal was to raise students' environmental awareness and develop their sense of responsibility for the environment through international activities. We aimed to encourage students to view environmental issues from a broader, European perspective, learn from each other, and discover effective approaches used in other countries. A key goal was to develop key competencies, particularly teamwork, communication in a foreign language, and cooperation in an international environment. The project aimed to break down social barriers, combat exclusion, and foster attitudes of openness, tolerance, and mutual respect. We wanted to strengthen students' social engagement and involvement in school and local community life, demonstrating that collaborative efforts can yield tangible results. Another important goal was to improve the quality of school work through the exchange of experiences and best practices. The project involved sharing experiences in environmental education, volunteering, school democracy, and modern solutions related to environmental protection.

Background

The project was initiated in response to the key needs of our schools and students, primarily related to the need to increase environmental awareness and foster environmentally responsible attitudes. This was particularly important in the local context – the Polish school operates in a region with high levels of air pollution, which further justified the need to intensify pro-environmental activities. At the same time, we recognized the need to strengthen students' key competencies: linguistic, mathematical, digital, and social. The project also addressed the problem of low motivation and the passive attitude of some students, demonstrating the importance of engaging in social life and the real impact their actions have on the environment. Another important goal was to provide access to international experiences, particularly for students with fewer opportunities, and to develop attitudes of openness, tolerance, and a sense of belonging to the European community. The partnership with a foreign school enabled the exchange of good practices, broadening perspectives, and increasing the scale of educational activities. The project also addressed the need to improve the quality of teaching through the use of active methods.
