By implementing this project, we aimed to achieve five main objectives. First, to increase students' interest and engagement in STEM subjects, particularly mathematics and geometry, through hands-on kite design activities that connect theoretical knowledge to real-world applications, making abstract concepts tangible and enjoyable. Second, to enhance digital competencies of both students and educators by integrating SketchUp 3D modelling software into teaching and learning processes, preparing them for a technology-driven future. Third, to promote gender equality and inclusion by actively encouraging girls and disadvantaged learners, including those with economic barriers or special needs, to participate equally in all STEM activities. Fourth, to improve educators' professional skills through comprehensive SketchUp teacher training, enabling them to design interdisciplinary STEM lessons using the 5E model and integrate digital tools effectively into their daily teaching practices. Finally, to establish sustainable international cooperation among three schools and one NGO, fostering long-term partnerships for future Erasmus+ projects and sharing innovative best practices across European borders.
We applied for this project to address the growing need for stronger STEM education, digital competencies, and inclusive learning environments in our partner institutions. Many students showed low motivation towards STEM subjects, limited practical learning opportunities, and insufficient digital skills. Teachers also needed support in integrating innovative digital tools and interdisciplinary methods into their teaching practices. The project aimed to address these challenges by introducing hands-on STEM activities, digital design, and project-based learning. Through activities such as 3D modelling, SketchUp training, and kite engineering, learners improved their creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills while connecting theoretical knowledge to real-world applications. Another important need addressed was inclusion and equal participation. The project encouraged the active involvement of disadvantaged learners and girls in STEM activities, promoting equal opportunities and self-confidence. Through international cooperation, the project promoted the exchange of good practices, strengthened institutional capacities, and increased intercultural understanding among participants.
