The "Travel for Inclusion" project aims to create transformative opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly those who face socio-economic, geographic, and systemic barriers to personal development. From the perspective of youth work practice, our primary objective is to empower these young individuals by equipping them with essential life skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging. Through access to international mobility and intercultural experiences, we aim to foster a growth mindset and resilience, enabling participants to overcome the limitations imposed by their circumstances and believe in their ability to shape their futures. A central objective of the project is to enhance social inclusion and promote equality for young people who are marginalized due to factors such as economic hardship, geographic isolation, or ethnic discrimination. By exposing participants to diverse European cultures, histories, and communities, the project builds empathy, fosters intercultural dialogue, and breaks down the barriers of exclusion. The activities, including workshops and peer learning sessions, are designed to increase participants' sense of belonging within European society and promote an inclusive identity. This approach will empower participants to actively challenge exclusionary practices in their own communities. Fostering lifelong learning and personal development is another core objective of the project. The "Travel for Inclusion" project aligns with the Erasmus+ program's emphasis on non-formal education, providing participants with practical, transferable skills. Participants will engage in workshops focused on financial literacy, travel logistics, cultural awareness, and digital literacy, all of which are critical for both personal growth and future career development. The project also integrates peer-to-peer learning and self-reflection activities, ensuring that participants internalize their experiences and apply the knowledge gained in meaningful ways beyond the project. Another key goal of the project is to strengthen participants' understanding of European citizenship and cultural awareness. Through travel to European institutions, historical sites, and diverse cultural contexts, participants will develop a stronger sense of European identity and an appreciation for the continent's values. By fostering discussions on European history, democracy, and cultural diversity, we aim for participants to return with a deeper connection to European society and a desire to contribute positively to their local and broader European communities. In addition to promoting inclusion and citizenship, the project is committed to fostering environmentally sustainable behaviors. Participants will be encouraged to adopt eco-friendly travel practices, such as using trains instead of flights, and will take part in workshops on sustainability and environmental responsibility. By integrating these values into the project, we aim to inspire participants to become advocates for sustainability within their own lives and communities, contributing to the Erasmus+ goal of promoting environmental responsibility among young people. Finally, the project seeks to address the digital divide and financial challenges that disadvantaged youth often face by enhancing their competences in digital and financial literacy. Through targeted workshops, participants will improve their ability to use digital tools for travel planning, education, and communication. Financial literacy training will also ensure that participants are equipped with essential budgeting and money management skills, both for the trip and for their future endeavors.
