Objectives

The SkillBoostersDiscoveringEU: New Frontiers project is designed to empower young people with fewer opportunities by providing them with enriching experiences that will significantly contribute to their personal and professional development. Our goal is to foster key skills, enhance intercultural understanding, promote active citizenship, and help participants reflect on European values, such as diversity, solidarity, and sustainability. This project is rooted in non-formal education, with a strong emphasis on inclusive participation and experiential learning, creating opportunities for youth to gain vital competences and skills that they can carry forward into their future lives. What Do We Want to Achieve? The core aim of the project is to enable young people with fewer opportunities—particularly those from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds, such as Roma youth, youth from foster care, and those from rural or marginalized communities—to broaden their horizons and improve their competences in areas critical to their personal and professional growth. We want to ensure that these young participants gain meaningful experiences, develop new skills, and build self-confidence through mobility opportunities, intercultural exchanges, and reflective learning activities. The project also seeks to help participants better understand their place in Europe by connecting them to the shared history, culture, and values of the European Union. Through travel, cultural immersion, and interaction with peers from diverse backgrounds, the project encourages participants to view themselves as active European citizens who can contribute positively to their communities and societies. Objectives: 1) Enhance Key Competences of Participants: We aim to improve the personal and professional skills of participants, particularly in areas like language proficiency, teamwork, communication, digital literacy, and intercultural awareness. We will focus on helping participants develop soft skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership, which are essential for both personal development and future success in professional environments. 2)Promote Inclusion and Social Integration: A key goal of the project is to support young people with fewer opportunities who may face obstacles due to socio-economic challenges, limited access to educational resources, or social exclusion. We aim to create an inclusive environment where participants can engage with peers from diverse backgrounds, learn from each other, and build relationships that transcend cultural and economic differences. 3)Encourage Reflection on European Values and Active Citizenship: The project aims to inspire participants to reflect on European values such as democracy, tolerance, solidarity, and environmental sustainability. Through activities such as visits to historical and cultural landmarks, as well as discussions on European identity and citizenship, participants will deepen their understanding of Europe’s shared values and their role as active citizens within the EU. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on how these values influence their daily lives and how they can contribute to their communities, both locally and at the European level. 4)Foster Intercultural Dialogue and Mutual Understanding: By bringing together participants from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, the project will create opportunities for intercultural dialogue and mutual learning. Through workshops, collaborative activities, and reflection sessions, participants will not only learn about other cultures but also reflect on their own cultural identities, helping them build empathy and respect for others. Promote Sustainable: Sustainability is a key component of this project, as we aim to instill environmentally friendly habits in participants throughout their mobility experience. By encouraging the use of sustainable modes of transport (e.g., trains, buses, and cycling) and promoting eco-friendly practices such as waste reduction. Youth Work Practice and the Role of Non-Formal Education: Non-formal education allows participants to gain skills through hands-on activities, peer learning, and reflection, providing a flexible and supportive environment where they can learn at their own pace. Experiential Learning: Participants will actively engage in learning experiences through travel, workshops, and interactive activities. This experiential approach ensures that learning is not confined to the classroom but takes place in real-world contexts, making it more meaningful and applicable to everyday life. Youthpass Certification: A central tool in documenting the participants’ learning outcomes will be the Youthpass certificate, which allows them to reflect on and articulate the skills they develop throughout the project. This certificate will serve as both a self-reflection tool and a valuable addition to their portfolio, enhancing their future employability.
