Objectives

The project enables young people with fewer opportunities to: 1. Experience the European Union, its interculturalism, and get acquainted with higher education and other educational institutions in its cities and towns. 2. Travel in a safe, carefree, and sustainable manner. 3. Engage in project-based, problem-solving, and peer learning about the European Union, its educational systems, sustainability, and environmental awareness of the European cultures they will interact with during their travels. 4. Develop their knowledge and skills for planning and executing trips, communicating with, and fostering tolerance towards cultures they encounter within the European Union, as well as understanding different disabilities. The project aims to include 15 young people with fewer opportunities, who would travel for 21 days with 7 travel days. However, as this is our first such project, we will consider it successful if we include at least 12 young people, who travel for at least 14 days with at least 4 travel days and complete at least 50% of the planned program. Participants will be selected based on a call for participation, which will be promoted with the help of high schools. We expect responses from young people facing economic and geographical obstacles, special needs, and challenges related to the education system, cultural differences, and health issues. The planning and preparation of the trip will take place in the form of project-based (problem-solving) and peer learning, focusing on motivating participants to research information about the European Union, its educational systems, and the environmental awareness of its cultures, which will guide us during the journey. The goal is to encourage as much independent work and competence development among participants as possible. Accompanying staff and other mentors will additionally prepare them for intercultural dialogue and safety requirements and measures during the trip. Parents/guardians will also be involved in a preparatory meeting. During the trip, accompanying staff will motivate participants to act as independently as possible, offering help only in situations where they assess that participants are not yet capable of handling the situation themselves. Participants will visit educational institutions and other landmarks and attractions in the cities they travel through, sharing their experiences or moments from the trip on their social media profiles, while crediting (or tagging) the project's sponsor, program, or organizer. After the trip, participants will evaluate the journey and the project in group discussions with mentors, complete their Youthpass certificates, and receive official recognition for their successful participation in the project. The results of the project will be disseminated primarily through our website and social media profiles, and we will involve participants (and other young people with fewer opportunities) in these activities. They will share their experiences and project outcomes as part of future calls for participant inclusion in the project.
