The primary goal of the IT Fitness Test 2025 was to empower young generation in Visegrad countries with basic and - to some extent - advanced digital skills with help of an online testing tool which would allow them assess their level of digital skills and provide basis for further education and self-development in this area. The project aimed at equipping students and youngsters with competence and resilience in facing digital challenges. Another important ambition of IT Fitness Test 2025 was to provide complex, relevant evaluation of results and structured data, together with objective interpretation to educational and digital transformation stakeholders in order to help then address gaps in digital education more effectively. Without supporting development in the area of digital skills of students and teachers, successful digital transformation of educational systems in Central and Eastern Europe will not be possible.
The project constitutes a relevant contribution to European goals defined in Digital Decade 2030, especially in the area of digital skills, and presents itself as a great example of a multi-country project adding to achieving the goals defined in strategic documents prepared by the European Commission. Digital skills of European population - be it basic digital skills or advanced digital skills - are an essential prerequisite for a digitally competitive Europe. Without adapting educational processes to digital challenges and educating both students and teachers on how to deal with those challenges, Europe will not be able to sustain and further develop its economic competitiveness and keep pace with other international players. Providing a testing tool available for everyone to measure their level of digital skills is an important starting point for further development and education. The data gathered in 2025 Country Reports summarising progress in achieving Digital Decade 2030 goals show us that Slovakia and Poland are not performing well enough in the area of basic digital skills, while Hungary and mainly Czechia are above the EU average. The project therefore creates space to exchange know how and best practices among partners.
