Objectives

The aim of the project was to strengthen the quality of foreign language teaching through the meaningful and practical use of artificial intelligence tools. We wanted to support teachers in integrating AI into the teaching of listening, reading, writing and speaking in a way that would benefit students’ learning, motivation and self-confidence. We focused in particular on creating a safe environment in which students would not be afraid to communicate in a foreign language, make mistakes, practise pronunciation and use the language in real-life situations. Through the implementation of the project, we aimed to increase teachers’ digital and pedagogical competences, enable them to exchange experience with colleagues from partner countries and jointly test AI tools that can be used in teaching. The intention was to prepare practical activities, teaching materials and methodological recommendations that would be directly applicable in the classroom and remain available after the end of the project. The project was intended to contribute to more modern, inclusive and interactive language teaching, to the development of students’ key and digital competences, and to the strengthening of international cooperation between schools.

Background

A concrete project output was the methodological guide “AI Applications Integrated Curriculum and Activities”, which brings together practical activities, recommendations and examples of using artificial intelligence to develop listening, reading, writing and speaking skills in a foreign language. The materials were created during international activities, discussed among partners, tested in school settings and revised based on feedback from teachers and students. In addition to the booklet, we created a project website providing access to activity presentations, worksheets, sample tasks and other teaching materials. The website serves as an open resource for partner schools and the wider professional community, supporting the sustainability of project results. The project was also transferred to the eTwinning space, expanding opportunities for cooperation, material sharing and the involvement of additional teachers and students.Other results include improved digital and pedagogical competences of teachers, greater confidence in using AI tools and the creation of a network of cooperating schools. Students benefited from more interactive activities, opportunities to practise foreign languages and a safer environment for communication.
