Objectives

The main objectives of the project can be summarized as follows, which were fully achieved through the combination and implementation of diverse activities, methods of informal education and culinary therapy activities: 1. Informal education about eating disorders and the cult of beauty The participants gained new knowledge about eating disorders, their causes and connections with the cult of beauty. Educational activities and workshops demonstrated an increase in awareness and the ability to recognize risky behavior. 2. Development of healthy lifestyle and eating habits Through interactive activities, discussions and practical exercises, the ability of young people to create a healthy relationship with food and their own bodies was strengthened. Feedback confirmed an increase in self-esteem and acceptance of individuality. 3. Support of mental health The activities contributed to a better understanding of mental health, self-reflection and resistance to media pressure. The ongoing challenge remains the long-term maintenance of these habits. 4. Developing critical thinking about the cult of beauty Participants learned to analyze media content, distinguish between reality and manipulation, and better resist unrealistic ideals. 5. Promoting self-confidence and gender, cultural understanding The project supported an open dialogue about gender and cultural differences, which led to greater understanding and empathy among young people. 6. Connecting non-formal education, youth work, and cultinotherapy These approaches were successfully connected and cultinotherapy was used as an effective tool for preventing eating disorders and promoting mental health. The project focused on increasing the knowledge and competences of young people from 4 countries, through non-formal education about eating disorders, the cult of beauty, and their impact on mental health. Through informal education, interactive workshops and cultinotherapy, participants actively engaged in discussions, reflections and practical exercises that strengthened their knowledge, self-esteem and ability to think critically about social norms of beauty. Participants rated the education and experiences as inspiring and beneficial. The challenge for the future remains maintaining the habits created and continuing activities aimed at strengthening the psychological well-being and self-acceptance of young people. Fulfilling the objectives of the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 The project directly contributed to achieving the European youth objectives, especially in the areas of: • Connecting the EU with youth – we responded to the current challenges of young people, supported their mental health and coping with the transition to adulthood. • Developing critical thinking – young people learned to recognize hoaxes, stereotypes and unrealistic ideals of beauty, thus strengthening their psychological resilience to PPP and media pressure. • Inclusive societies – young people with fewer opportunities (from rural areas, from migrant families, with language or cultural barriers, as well as participants from Ukraine affected by the war) participated in the activities. The project created a space for equal participation, understanding and integration. • Mental health – we responded to the negative impacts and increase in cases of self-harm among young people, by sharing stories about mental health disorders among young people we contribute to the prevention of psychological problems, low self-esteem and the destigmatization of eating disorders (hereinafter referred to as DIS).
