Objectives

The main goal of the project "Bye-Bye Boredom" was to respond to the increasing problem of insufficient physical activity among young people, recognized by the World Health Organization as one of the leading global health risks. Despite being aware of the benefits, many young people do not manage to incorporate regular physical activity into their lives. This youth exchange aimed to motivate and empower participants to adopt healthier habits, improve their mental well-being, and connect through sports and non-formal learning. Objectives of the project: Promote physical and mental well-being: The project aimed to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity, balanced nutrition, and stress management. Sports sessions were used to demonstrate the link between physical movement, improved mood, and better concentration. Empower young people as leaders in promoting healthy lifestyles: Participants were encouraged to take on leadership roles and become advocates for well-being in their communities through practical exercises and discussions. Support intercultural dialogue through sports: The exchange provided opportunities for intercultural learning by using sports as a shared language. Participants explored different perspectives on health and well-being across cultures. Encourage sustainable behavior change: Rather than providing only temporary motivation, the project focused on creating lasting habits related to movement, mindful eating, and emotional resilience. The effectiveness of the project was evaluated through pre- and post-surveys completed by participants. The results showed a noticeable improvement in several areas: There was a significant increase in familiarity with stress management techniques, such as mindfulness and breathing exercises. Participants also felt more confident in promoting healthy living and creating achievable fitness goals after the project. A small decrease in self-reported awareness of healthy lifestyles suggests that participants developed a more realistic understanding of their starting point and recognized areas for improvement. In conclusion, the project succeeded in achieving its goals by combining physical activity, education, and intercultural exchange. It supported young people in making practical changes while developing a stronger sense of self-awareness, responsibility, and solidarity.
