The project aimed to empower young people to recognize, question, and counteract hate speech, racism, xenophobia, and religious discrimination by providing them with practical and creative tools. Our central idea was to use the life stories, values, and legacies of cultural heroes as inspirational references for tolerance, solidarity, and empathy. By highlighting positive examples from history, we encouraged participants to critically evaluate the roots of marginalization and to reflect on the dangers of normalizing hatred in society. Through this initiative, we wanted to achieve several complementary goals. Firstly, we aimed to foster empathy and critical thinking among young people by involving them in activities that required them to “step into the shoes” of others through role-play, drama, and storytelling. Secondly, we sought to promote intercultural dialogue by bringing together youth from countries with complex political and historical tensions. This allowed participants to directly share their perspectives, confront prejudices, and discover common cultural values. At the same time, the project was designed to strengthen European values such as respect for diversity, active citizenship, and solidarity. Our objectives also included increasing young people’s ability to identify hate speech in both traditional and digital media, to challenge stereotypes, and to communicate social messages of inclusion through creative methods such as posters, slogans, logos, and public flashmob events. Overall, the objectives of the project were: To raise awareness about hate speech and its social consequences. To cultivate tolerance and mutual respect among young people from different cultural, religious, and political backgrounds. To enhance participants’ capacity to critically evaluate media messages and distinguish between factual information and manipulative discourse. To strengthen young people’s skills in empathy, intercultural communication, and creative expression. To empower youth to become active messengers of peace and equality within their communities. To support the mission of Erasmus+ by promoting social inclusion, active citizenship, and shared European values.
