Objectives

“Facilitation Compass: Methods Lab” was developed as a follow-up initiative of the project “Facilitation Compass” (2023-3-AT01-KA153-YOU-000175940), implemented in 2024 where the need in new, engaging and innovative methods and tools which would enrich their facilitator’s toolbox and support young people’s learning process was identified. As a result, we mapped the following needs in the group regarding the continuation and development of the project: need in tools in facilitation and how to adapt them to the theme and format of the activity; need in modern approaches and “out of the box” methods to address various youth groups; need in co-creation of new methods adapted to their context and needs; and more visualisation training.
“Facilitation Compass: Methods Lab” sought to meet these needs by equipping youth workers and educators with innovative, engaging, and effective facilitation techniques that enhance group dynamics and foster deeper learning experiences and empower them to create new educational methods and tools tailored for concrete target group and the context. The project aimed to provide participants with practical experience using various cutting-edge tools and techniques while also fostering an environment where they can collaborate, experiment, and develop new methods for facilitating group learning. These methods enable facilitators to work more effectively with youth in various non-formal and formal educational settings, addressing different learning styles, group dynamics, and cultural backgrounds.
The training took place on 15–23 September 2025 (including arrival and departure days) and involved 29 participants from 9 countries: Austria, Poland, Latvia, Germany, Portugal, Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
The project was supported by the Austrian National Agency of Erasmus+, and the applicant organisation was Plattform Generation Europa.
The objectives of the project were: -Equip facilitators and youth workers with advanced, hands-on tools and methodologies for effective group facilitation -to familiarise educators with Lego Serious Play methodology -to learn about the potential of outdoor education activities for personal development and growth -to develop graphic facilitation skills -to foster innovation and creativity in youth work by creating a collaborative space for participants to develop and experiment with new, engaging facilitation methods tailored to their unique educational and youth work contexts -Enhance the quality of youth work and education by promoting effective experiential methods and tools that engage young people in creative, critical thinking, and problem-solving processes -to promote networking and cooperation between youth workers and support follow-up initiatives.
