Through the ZEN ZONE project we addressed a challenge that many of us and young people we work with had experienced personally: managing anger and anxiety in daily life. Our project contributed to empowering young people from Belgium, Georgia, France and Hungary to better understand their emotions and to practice tools for emotional regulation in a supportive intercultural environment. We achieved this through reaching the initially envisioned objectives: (1)We explored and reflected on the causes of anger and anxiety in our different cultural contexts, recognising how social, economic and cultural factors shaped these experiences. (2)We practiced a variety of anger management and anxiety reduction techniques through peer-to-peer learning, creative workshops and group activities. (3)We equipped participants with concrete skills and knowledge to continue managing emotions effectively in their everyday lives and to share what they learned with their peers and communities after the project. These connections have grown beyond the duration of the exchange. (4)We created strong and lasting friendship bonds across countries, building trust and supporting future networking and cooperation between our organisations. As a direct outcome of ZEN ZONE, a follow-up youth exchange drafted by participating youth is currently being planned to take place in France, continuing with a similar theme but going deeper into the topic of emotional awareness and well-being. By achieving these objectives, the project contributed both to the personal well-being of the participants and to the strengthening of intercultural understanding among the partner countries.
