Objectives

With the young people, we started from a reality we see every day in our neighborhoods: it's hard to eat healthily when you don't have much money. The young people often told us they ended up at fast-food places because it's quick, cheap, and they didn't really know how to do otherwise. So the project idea came naturally, in connection with our Tunisian partner, the Espoir de Vie association: what if we learned together, with young Tunisians, how to cook "good food" without breaking the bank? Not a formal training where we lecture them, but a real exchange where everyone brings their family recipes and cooking tips. The young people wanted it to be concrete and useful. We had planned to start a community garden, but it didn't work out as we hoped. However, we focused on cooking workshops, visits to local markets, and especially on the event where the young people cooked for the community in Tunisia. And then there was this aspect of meeting Tunisians that was really important to them. Exchanging with young people from elsewhere who live similar situations, understanding that we're not alone in our struggles, creating lasting connections. For many, it was their first international mobility experience - it really mattered.
