Objectives

With this project we would like to refresh and improve the use of clowning in circus youth work and reflect about the use of humour in general. It aims to reconnect European youth circus organisations, and tries to offer a valuable and positive life-changing experience to young people from all across Europe. The main objects are: • To strengthen youth work practice through humour and clowning: to make it possible for youth workers, young artists, and future circus professionals to use humour and clowning as powerful tools for communication, teaching and performance. • To offer participants new skills they can use to connect with diverse audiences or groups, including marginalized groups or people in distress. By doing so they encourage inclusivity and accessibility in the circus arts. • To reflect on humour’s role in society, by addressing broader societal issues such as gender, cultural differences, and inclusivity in clowning. • To create a safe environment for participants to explore, experiment and develop their comical skills, overcoming fears and insecurities related to being funny on stage or in front of a group. • To promote lifelong learning and professional development: to prepare young professionals for careers in circus and youth work, highlighting the importance of combining artistic expression with social commitment • To bring together people from the youth circus with different backgrounds and different ‘roles’: youth workers, trainers, young artists, directors,…
