The Seminar on Youth Wellbeing was implemented because FIMCAP and its member organisations see a growing need to strengthen the ability of youth leaders to respond to pressures young people face today, such as mental stress, insecurity, social isolation, and limited access to safe, supportive spaces. The project aimed to turn “youth wellbeing” into a concrete and shared approach in youth work, not as an abstract concept but as something youth leaders can actively foster in their local groups, national structures, and international activities. The project had three main objectives. First, we wanted participants to gain a holistic understanding of youth wellbeing and to be able to recognise how mental, physical, spiritual, and relational dimensions interact in real youth work settings. This objective links directly to current youth work challenges and to EU priorities on mental health and wellbeing, participation, inclusion, and quality learning. Second, we wanted to strengthen the competence of youth leaders to create safer, more inclusive environments, to facilitate groups in a way that supports connection and dignity, and to respond responsibly when wellbeing concerns emerge. Third, we wanted to ensure sustainability beyond the seminar by developing a shared strategic direction for the network: participants therefore produced and adopted a Youth Wellbeing Mission Statement and one integrated Action Plan for the next three years. These two outputs are intended to guide FIMCAP’s follow-up, encourage implementation at multiple levels, and strengthen cooperation across organisations and countries.
