The "Active Citizens for a Better Future" project aims to empower young individuals, fostering active citizenship, and promoting social change. Our project is committed to achieving four main objectives to empower young individuals and enhance their role in society. Firstly, the project seeks to deepen young people's understanding of the active citizenship, including their rights, responsibilities, and the significant impact they can wield within their communities and the broader society. This will involve comprehensive education on civic engagement, democratic processes, and effective communication in public discourse, aiming to cultivate informed and proactive citizens. Secondly, we aim to equip youth with critical thinking and media literacy skills, enabling them to navigate the information-rich digital landscape discerningly. This objective is crucial for ensuring young people can differentiate between reliable information and misinformation, fostering responsible media consumption and participation in democratic processes. Thirdly, the project focuses on promoting social inclusion and diversity, creating an inclusive environment where youth from varied backgrounds, especially those with fewer opportunities, feel valued and empowered to contribute. Efforts will be made to dismantle participation barriers and cultivate an appreciation for diversity within communities. Lastly, we intend to encourage community engagement and volunteering, inspiring youth to actively participate in their communities through various civic initiatives. This objective seeks to demonstrate the tangible differences young people can make, promoting a sense of community responsibility and the value of collective action. O1: To deepen young people's understanding of what it means to be an active citizen, including knowledge of their rights, responsibilities, and the impact they can have on their communities and society at large. This involves educating participants on civic engagement, democratic processes, and how to effectively voice their opinions and contribute to public discourse. O2: To equip youth with the skills necessary to critically evaluate information, distinguish between reliable sources and misinformation, and engage with media content responsibly. This objective is particularly pertinent in today’s digital age, where media literacy is crucial for informed participation in democratic processes. O3: To foster an environment where young people from diverse backgrounds, including those with fewer opportunities, feel included, valued, and able to contribute. This includes working towards breaking down barriers to participation and encouraging understanding and respect for diversity within communities. O4: To inspire and mobilize youth to take an active role in their communities through volunteering, community projects, and other forms of civic engagement. This objective aims to show young people how their contributions can make a tangible difference and encourage a sense of responsibility towards community well-being. O5: To develop participants' leadership and teamwork abilities, enabling them to lead initiatives, work effectively in groups, and collaborate on projects that promote active citizenship. This includes training in project management, public speaking, and negotiation, equipping young people to take on leadership roles within their communities. O6: To create opportunities for young people to connect with peers, youth workers, policymakers, and other stakeholders. This networking aims to foster collaboration, exchange of ideas, and sharing of best practices in youth work and active citizenship.
