Objectives

The project “Frame By Frame – Youth Video Advocates” was designed to address a clear need among young people: while they are highly engaged with digital platforms such as YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, many lack the practical skills, tools, and structured opportunities to use video as a medium for education, social awareness, and civic engagement. The project therefore aimed to transform young people from passive consumers of online content into active creators of educational and socially-relevant media. The overall aim was to empower young people to use video and digital storytelling as tools for expression, advocacy and participation in society. Through non-formal learning and an international youth exchange, the project sought to bridge the gap between young people’s interest in social issues and their ability to communicate effectively about them in the digital sphere. More specifically, the project pursued the following objectives: Development of digital and media production skills The project aimed to equip 32 young participants from six countries with practical competences in video creation, including concept development, storytelling, scriptwriting, filming, editing and online promotion. This objective focused on strengthening digital literacy and creative skills relevant to both personal and professional development. Strengthening media literacy and use of digital tools Participants were introduced to different digital tools for video production and online dissemination, enabling them to better understand how digital media functions and how it can be used responsibly and effectively. The objective was to enhance their media literacy and critical engagement with digital platforms. Promoting awareness of social issues and active citizenship A core goal was to empower participants to identify, research and analyse key social issues (e.g. climate change, discrimination, mental health, human rights) and transform these into compelling video messages that raise awareness and encourage civic engagement among young audiences. This aligns with youth work priorities of participation, social responsibility and democratic engagement. Fostering intercultural collaboration and teamwork The project aimed to facilitate collaborative video production in multicultural teams, encouraging cooperation, intercultural dialogue and respect for diverse perspectives. Through teamwork and peer learning, participants were expected to strengthen communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills. Ensuring sustainability and long-term impact Beyond the mobility activity, the project aimed to ensure that participants would continue creating educational and awareness-raising content after the exchange. By building confidence, technical skills and a network of like-minded young creators, the project sought to create long-term impact and ongoing engagement in digital advocacy and youth participation. Overall expected achievement Through the implementation of the project, we aimed to create a supportive learning environment where young people could acquire practical digital competences, reflect on social challenges affecting their communities, and develop the confidence to use media as a tool for positive change. Ultimately, the project aspired to cultivate a network of socially conscious young content creators capable of informing, inspiring and mobilising their peers through responsible and impactful video content.
