Objectives

Our project focuses on enhancing conflict management competencies among youth workers, emphasizing emotional intelligence and communication. The goal is to equip these professionals to prepare, implement, and evaluate high-quality youth work activities aimed at diverse groups, including refugees, migrants, minorities, and Roma. This approach aligns with the principles of conflict prevention and resolution. Today, we live in multicultural, cross-cultural, and intercultural societies. Our local communities are increasingly diverse, shaped by free European mobility, open borders, and the influx of refugees and migrants from around the globe. Youth workers must navigate the complexities of engaging with young people from various cultural backgrounds, including: Young individuals from different cultures whose behavioral norms and values may differ from local customs. Refugees from vastly different backgrounds, often traumatized by previous experiences. Second-generation migrant youth who may feel disconnected from both their parents' culture and the majority culture. Addressing these intercultural challenges is not always straightforward. Youth workers encounter diverse communication styles, varying values, and preconceived stereotypes that can lead to misunderstandings and xenophobia. Recognizing these dynamics, we aim to enhance our conflict resolution and mediation skills to offer youth work activities that foster cooperation among young people from diverse backgrounds. By focusing on emotional intelligence and effective communication, we can turn cultural diversity into an asset for collective endeavors. General Objectives The project's overarching goals are to improve youth workers' capacities in three key areas: emotional intelligence, conflict management, and communication. By enhancing these competencies, we aim to better meet the needs of marginalized youth and support their active participation in society, ultimately preventing radicalization. Empowering youth workers will enhance the quality of activities delivered by youth organizations and strengthen the support systems for youth engagement. Learning Objectives The training course will focus on several learning objectives: Reflecting on the essential competencies of youth workers related to emotional intelligence, conflict management, and communication. Experiencing practical methods and techniques to enhance these competencies. Supporting participants in mastering and transferring these techniques to their work with young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities. Promoting the exchange of best practices in professional development for youth workers. Creating a space to develop innovative ideas addressing the professional growth of youth work, supported by the Erasmus+ Programme.
