The objectives of the project were to expand and strengthen the network of volunteers from Slovenia, Spain, Portugal, and Germany, as well as their organizations; to promote intercultural exchange among the participants; to foster group building; and to strengthen participants’ identification with the project “Travel Different for Future,” in which all youth exchange participants were actively involved. Another key objective was to deepen participants’ understanding of the topic of sustainable travel and the impacts of tourism, particularly by incorporating experiences and perspectives from the four participating countries. The youth exchange was also intended to serve as an opportunity to evaluate the joint project “Travel Different for Future,” with a particular focus on the cooperation among partners and the quality of the workshops that had been offered so far. The youth exchange provided a platform for developing new ideas for future project activities and workshop formats within “Travel Different for Future.” A special focus was placed on giving participants the opportunity to improve their media literacy and acquire practical skills in creating various forms of media. Through a range of publications and media outputs, the project aimed to raise awareness of sustainable travel among as many people as possible. At the same time, the project contributed to the development of participants’ intercultural and entrepreneurial competences. At the time of the youth exchange, all participants were already actively involved as volunteers in the project. Some had been engaged for two to three years, while all had participated for at least six months. Within the framework of the project, volunteers from the four countries meet online once a month to coordinate activities and stay connected. Meeting in person once a year is highly motivating for the participants. These annual youth exchanges generate many new ideas and impulses that contribute to the continuous development of the project and ensure the active and participatory involvement of young people. During the youth exchange, participants gain a wide range of valuable experiences, develop personally, enhance their intercultural competences, and strengthen their ability to engage actively in society and civic life.
