Objectives

Sustainable tourism has become an inevitable necessity on a global scale in today's world. Increasing travel demand has caused the tourism industry to grow rapidly and has presented a great opportunity for economic development. However, in regions where tourist activities are concentrated, problems such as excessive consumption of natural resources, damage to local cultures, lack of infrastructure and environmental destruction have emerged. European countries, especially tourist attractions such as Germany, have not escaped these negative effects. Although Germany is a tourist destination that has gained worldwide fame with its historical and cultural riches, this popularity presents a great challenge for sustainable tourism. Germany's unique natural beauties, historical structures and rich cultural heritage are important elements that attract tourists. However, rapid tourist development and increasing visitor flow have led to problems such as environmental destruction, overcrowding and erosion of local cultures. For example, as stated by Rossi and Lazzini (2019), the rapid increase in visitors in Italy's tourist areas has caused excessive use of natural resources and environmental damage. Especially in touristic areas such as Venice, the quality of life of local people decreases due to overcrowding, and infrastructure deficiencies and environmental pollution problems arise. In their study, Rapino and Carlucci (2020) emphasized the importance of protecting cultural heritage and the participation of local people to promote sustainable tourism in various regions of Germany. Germany's tourism sector should develop various policies and strategies to protect historical and cultural values and to manage tourist flows in a sustainable way. For example, cultural heritage can be revitalized by supporting local handicrafts and introducing traditional festivals in Venice. Sustainable transportation systems should be promoted in the historical center of Rome and steps should be taken to reduce plastic waste. The projects carried out by the European Union in the field of tourism have contributed to Germany's efforts in the field of sustainable tourism. In this project, we will inform young people from different countries of Europe about sustainable tourism and how to be responsible tourists in the touristic locations they visit. The main goal of our project is to increase young people's awareness of sustainable tourism in order to leave a better environment for future generations. Specific Objectives: 1-To raise awareness among young people about the environmental impacts of tourism travel and how to reduce personal carbon footprints. 2-To motivate young people for a lifestyle that includes environmentally friendly travel alternatives by informing them about sustainable tourism principles and practices. 3-To inform young people about the importance of travelling without harming cultural riches while preserving biodiversity and ecosystems.
