WildPath2 was a Youth Exchange implemented as the successor of the successful community-based Youth Exchange “WildPath” which took place in 2024. WildPath2 follows the foundational tenets of WildPath, which include the inclusion of young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, through different non-formal education-based activities, aimed at the creation of a strong sense of community as well as individual and communal empowerment . With delight we observe that the original objectives of the project have been met. Insurance of the successful completion of the objectives is provided through observation as well as direct feedback by the participants and the partner organizations. WildPath2 explored and fulfilled 4 essential needs of a human, including: - Belonging: Participants developed an understanding of the concept of community and their role inside it, not limited to the community within the Youth Exchange, but beyond it inside their local community, their home country, and the European Union at large - Enjoyment: Through experiential learning which included non-formal education methods and games, participants were provided with space and opportunity to reflect, cooperate and contribute to their individual and collective learning processes - Power: Participants were encouraged to take responsibility and be accountable for their own experience. The Youth Exchange functions as a playground for self-exploration and self-discovery, including the aspects of trial and error, awareness and empowerment - Independence: With a hierarchy-free approach, the responsibility of the organizing team was to accompany, support and guide the community building and learning processes of the participants, emphasizing the autonomy of each participant The three main objectives of the project were: • Develop interpersonal skills and a stronger sense of social responsibility in young people in order to increase their engagement as citizens at the local, regional, national, European, and international levels. o This goal has been achieved through involvement of each participant in communal responsibilities, such as daily cleaning, cooking, navigating and communicating in shared living arrangements, as well as various activities, most notably the Outdoor Challenge, where participants were encouraged to apply their interpersonal communication skills • Promote cultural sensitivity and tolerance: to prevent racism, xenophobia, and related intolerance among young people by raising understanding of one's own and other people's cultural contexts. o This goal has been achieved through the gathering of 32 participants from 8 different countries inside one venue. When groups were formed during the project, focus was set on intercultural compositions, with no more than one person from one country per group. In addition, participants were accommodated in mixed dorms, so that exposure to different cultures continued after the project’s program of the day. Through continued exposure and confrontation with different cultures, participants gained awareness of different cultural contexts and were also able to examine their own cultural context from an altered perspective • To activate and support the self-development process of the participants through non-formal and community-based education. o Through a framework with various means of reflection, such as reflection groups, open sharing and the YouthPass, participants were invited and encouraged to document their learnings both verbally and non-verbally through different means of expression, facilitating the process of self-development.
