Objectives

We wanted to strengthen young people’s capacity to navigate a rapidly changing digital reality shaped by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and to do so in an inclusive, youth-work-based way. Through the youth exchange in Obzor (10–19 September 2025; 8 activity days + 2 travel days) with participants from Spain, Germany, Türkiye, Romania, Bulgaria, Czechia, and North Macedonia, we pursued the following objectives: We increased participants’ AI literacy by helping them understand what AI was, how it worked at a basic level, and how it was used in daily life and across sectors such as education, employment, healthcare, and finance. We strengthened critical thinking and media literacy so participants could recognise algorithmic influence, identify misinformation and manipulation (including AI-generated content), and adopt safer “verify-before-sharing” behaviours. We developed participants’ awareness of ethical and responsible AI use, including privacy, bias/discrimination risks, transparency, accountability, and the social consequences of automated decision-making. We improved employability-related competences by exploring how AI changed the labour market and by building transversal skills relevant to future work contexts (problem-solving, communication, teamwork, creativity, and adaptability). We promoted inclusion and equal access to digital learning by ensuring meaningful participation of young people with fewer opportunities (economic, geographical, and cultural barriers) through tailored support and inclusive non-formal education methods. We reinforced intercultural learning and European cooperation by creating a shared space where participants compared national realities, exchanged perspectives, and built lasting peer networks. We supported active citizenship and community engagement by equipping participants to act as multipliers and disseminate key messages and outputs (posters, booklet, blog content, interviews, and videos) in their local communities after the mobility.
