In the course of the encounters, the participants deal with the importance of democracy and participation and at the same time reflect on the power of racism and discrimination, which impede or prevent equal participation. As a first step, the young people explore the question of what causes group-focused misanthropy, racist discrimination and sexism. They deal with the question of how this affects those affected, what forms exist and what strategies for action are possible. In this context, it is necessary to understand and be able to classify manipulative attitudes and prejudices and the intentions behind them. The consequences of radical and uncompromising attitudes for democracy, society and the personal environment of adolescents and young adults should become clear. The common basic rights, values and rules establish a connection to the reality of the participants' lives. In doing so, they discover the opportunities and advantages of peaceful coexistence characterized by respect and solidarity. They develop and test options for action that they can use in their everyday lives. The participants implement their ideas and experiences with the artistic and cultural media of music, dance, film and theater and develop them further. This makes their existing potential visible and helps them to overcome their feelings of powerlessness. With the help of a resource-oriented perspective, they recognize the possibilities and potential of self-determination, thereby increasing their decision-making ability and active creative skills. Participants recognize discriminatory formulations in their personal and social everyday life and understand the attitudes of derogatory and exclusionary statements. They learn what options for action are possible and how they can counter them. Participants learn about the background, causes and consequences of flight, displacement and migration, enabling them to better assess their own situation and that of others.
