Inclusion of marginalised young peoplePreventing racism and discriminationBridging intercultural, intergenerational and social divide

Objectives

Discrimination, racism, xenophobia, and cultural conflicts have become increasingly visible challenges in today’s societies, especially in countries experiencing growing cultural and demographic diversity due to migration, mobility, and forced displacement. Young people are directly affected by these developments, yet they also play a key role in shaping more inclusive, peaceful, and cohesive communities. This project was designed to respond to these challenges by creating a safe learning space where young people could openly engage with issues of diversity, identity, and coexistence. The project aimed to promote values of respect, tolerance, and mutual understanding among 36 young people from six different countries: Germany, Greece, Latvia, Romania, Serbia, and Türkiye by fostering meaningful intercultural dialogue. Through non-formal and informal education methods aligned with the Erasmus+ Programme, such as interactive workshops, group discussions, role plays, creative tasks, and reflection sessions, participants were encouraged to critically examine stereotypes, prejudices, and discriminatory behaviours, while developing empathy and intercultural competence. Intercultural learning was a central component of the project and was strengthened through daily cooperation, team-based activities, energizers, and shared living experiences. By bringing together participants from diverse cultural, social, and religious backgrounds, the project supported learning through direct interaction and experience, helping participants to view diversity as a strength rather than a source of division. In addition, the project sought to empower young people by equipping them with knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to recognize, challenge, and counter discrimination in their everyday lives and local communities. Creative outputs such as short movies and a Declaration of Diversity were developed as tools for self-expression and awareness-raising, enabling participants to share their messages beyond the project group and contribute to broader discussions on inclusion, human rights, and social cohesion. Objectives: - Raise awareness among young people about discrimination, racism, xenophobia, and their impact on individuals and societies. - Promote intercultural dialogue, mutual respect, and understanding between participants from different cultural backgrounds. - Support participants in recognizing and questioning stereotypes, prejudices, and discriminatory attitudes. - Strengthen participants’ communication, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills in multicultural contexts. - Empower young people to actively challenge discrimination and promote inclusion in their local communities. - Encourage cooperation and exchange of experiences between youth from six countries and strengthen international partnerships. - Produce creative and educational outputs, such as short movies and a Declaration of Diversity, to disseminate project messages and inspire wider audiences.
