Objectives

Our project aims at the prevention of youth violence and at enhancing civic courage by the implementation of educational activities, using the power of sport and non-formal education. The project has been designed to directly engage young people in the practice of youth work, as well as to offer them the means for active and positive involvement in their community. Project Objectives: The purpose of this project is to raise the awareness of participants, through non-formal learning methods, about the different forms of violence-physical, verbal, and psychological ones-and provide them with methods and means of recognizing and preventing these types of violence. We intend, through this activity, to raise an awareness in the participants and communities with regard to the importance of standing up against violence with activities such as the symbolic run "Run Against Violence". Social Inclusion and Respect: The project will provide the enabling environment where young people from different cultural backgrounds can interact, share, and collaborate in an environment void of stereotyping and prejudice. Intercultural workshops and group activities in this project will provide opportunities for discussions amongst the participants and develop the values of tolerance, respect, and solidarity. This involves enhancing physical and mental health through sport: Sport shall be used as a tool to promote a healthy lifestyle and assist young people in developing emotional resilience. The proposed sport activities will contribute to improving the self-esteem, emotional control, and stress management of participants, which are fundamental elements for preventing violent behavior. Developing key skills in young people: Young participants, during this project, will develop a series of transversal skills concerning leadership, teamwork, intercultural communication, and active citizenship. These skills will not only serve them during the actual project but also in personal and professional futures. They will be encouraged to play an active part in the community and become promoters of social change. What we want to achieve: Youngsters more aware of the dynamics of violence and able to recognize and take action to avoid violence. Improved psychophysical wellbeing in participants due to sport activities and mental health focus. Creation of intercultural networks between young people coming from different countries, favoring cooperation and mutual respect. Digital and social skills development, thanks to the dissemination activities, including the creation of multimedia content and the use of social media by youngsters in a conscious way, in order to disseminate project messages. Regarding youth work: Utilizing non-formal education methodologies, the young can be protagonists of their learning process. By means of dynamic activities, the project offers an environment that is stimulating, where learning is possible in an inclusive way, enabling reflections by participants on the themes taken up. The goal of this project is to enhance the capacity of the youth organizations working with young people at risk, especially on how to foster their physical and mental wellbeing through sport, inclusion, and violence prevention.
