Objectives

In this application BeASILY DE is presenting a project called Pathways To Creative Youth Work (P2CYW). which is a two Mobility training course that offers an opportunity for youth workers and those working with young people to develop their creative skills and to learn new ones that will increase the effectiveness of their youth work practice. The training evolves from three previous successful training editions, one in The Netherlands (2015-16), Italy and Serbia (2017) and the Power of Pathways (Impact Seminar) Germany (2021). The facilitators in partnership with past participants and partner organisations have responded to feedback from these two editions and evalauation, upgrading the programme and introducing new elements for this edition. We want to equip youth workers with a variety of creative skills to ensure their youth work is even more effective and engaging, to ensure the retention and the attention of the young people they engage with. P2CYW is a training exploring creativity to increase effectiveness in youth work focusing on: What do we do? The content and intention of creative youth work, and how we structure creative ideas developed from youth participation, to fit into the model of effectivity developed by Steven Covey The role of youth workers in presenting creative ideas and challenges to young people using: stories, music, visual arts, and theatre. The use of the creative media in developing rapport, attention, building relationships with young people. The main aim of P2CYW is to develop awareness and understanding of how creative processes can be harnessed to make our youth work even more effective, and to explore how these competences can be applied in an Erasmus+ context. The training will be realised using a range of experiential learning opportunities, non-formal educational approaches and a wealth of youth work theory, a 7-Habit model for effective living and practice to actively engage and develop the creative skills of the participants. In order to achieve this aim, the project has identified the following objectives: To develop awareness and build on a greater understanding of the sue of creative skills and processes of youth workers; To explore and understand the effects of effective creativity in the youth work role. To gain a greater awareness of the practices we can use in creative youth work and how they can be extended to other aspects of our personal and professional lives. To identify and realise the opportunities to put creative youth work skills into effective practice; To follow the recognition pathways offered through Youthpass & the ETS YW framework of competences; To explore the opportunities for realising participants’ youth work potential through Erasmus+ and develop future collaborations. P2CYW covers an array of creative and informal techniques to make this a unique and wonderful personal and professional development opportunity. We believe the biggest benefits are specifically targeting the ETS Youth Work competences. The ETS Youth Work Competence model with it’s multi-dimensional approach, divides each competence area into attitudes, knowledge, skills, and behaviours. They note that the competences complement each other. More specifically: Facilitating individual and group learning in an enriching environment Organising and managing resources Communicating meaningfully with others We want to realise this project because; we regularly use creative methods in our own work and we are always looking for new ways of supporting effective youth work. Our work now regularly includes; creative arts, digital media, and storytelling as a way to develop advanced communication, presentation and facilitation skills for youth workers. In addition, we now want to explore them to support civic engagement and activism of young people. After working with young people on local projects to help them engage effectively with decision makers and the need for different creative methods, the potential of working on art, youth work and political practices for civic/ political engagement became a priority and at the same time a chance to build stronger collaboration with previous partners and connections between youth work and artivism practices.
