The aim of implementing the project was to give young people that feed their countries the opportunity to make their own experiences, wishes, and perspectives visible and heard. A central objective was to empower them to raise their voices and clearly articulate their visions of the European Union. A special aspect of the project was its participatory approach: it was developed together with young refugees who had previously attended seminars at the wannseeFORUM and are now part of the team themselves. This ensured that they were not only addressed as a target group, but actively involved in the conception and implementation of the project. In addition, the project sought to enable young people to become actively engaged in political processes. They were not only encouraged to “get involved” politically, but also to learn more about the space in which they live – the European Union. This included getting to know their rights within the EU as well as understanding the values for which the Union stands. Another objective was to ensure that the results achieved would have a lasting impact: the young people’s contributions were presented publicly, shared with decision-makers, and incorporated into the EU Youth Dialogue, particularly with regard to Youth Goal #1. Overall, the project aimed to promote political education, participation on equal terms, and the self-efficacy of young refugees.
