The #Perspektiven project aimed to empower young people who felt overlooked and unheard by providing them with a platform to express themselves through storytelling. The stories they developed were presented to and discussed with political decision-makers in order to strengthen the participants' sense of self-efficacy and their trust in politics. In addition, the young people learned how political communication works using political narratives as an example. This had two direct outcomes: they became better able to communicate their own concerns effectively and were empowered to critically analyze messages from political actors, enabling them to better recognize rhetorical strategies and their intended effects. Furthermore, they were sensitized to the importance of civic participation by discussing the role of public participation in a democratic society and by learning about participation tools and mechanisms. The project encouraged them to recognize that society depends on the perspectives and innovations of young people.
