We find that many young people struggle to take the initiative in forming social relationships and further developing these into friendships. The young themselves describe this as being “socially awkward.” In both Høje-Taastrup Ungdomsskole and Zentrum für Jugendkultur Cadillac, we experience that creative collaboration is a shortcut to relationships and friendships. The project's goal is for participants to become more aware of the potential of music and dance to form the foundation for communities, relationships, and friendships, and to carry these values and methods into other contexts in which they participate. This youth exchange will foster intercultural dialogue and cooperation, strengthening bonds between Danish and German youths. It will develop the participants’ skills for communication, cooperation, co-creation and creative processes. And it will make the participants aware of the importance and potentials of music and dance related to social skills, being part of a community and building friendships.
