Objectives

The EuroYouth Digital Council, a project targeting high school students from across Denmark, was created to support the European Commission President’s initiative to strengthen dialogue with young people and give them a meaningful role in shaping the future of the EU. This objective was realized both through a series of six council workshops and through the students’ own events, which reached a broad and diverse audience of young people nationwide. Council members (12) were provided with a unique platform to engage directly with experts and policymakers, allowing them to explore EU digitalization policy in depth. As part of the project, they developed their own position paper specifically focused on digitalization policy, articulating youth perspectives and recommendations on this key area. Through this process, it became clear that young people not only have valuable insights but also a strong desire to actively contribute to shaping important policy agendas at the EU level. In addition to drafting their position paper, council members were responsible for planning and hosting EU-themed events at their own schools. Through interactive, peer-to-peer workshops, these events allowed a larger group of students to engage with the council’s work, gain a better understanding of EU digitalization policy, and experience firsthand how youth voices can influence policy discussions. The overarching goal was for the Council to represent the voice of Danish youth in the EU debate on digitalization policy, ensuring broad participation and engagement across the country.
