Objectives

The "Generation AI" Erasmus+ program aspired to educate youth workers on the responsible use of AI by equipping them with analytical skills, promoting ethical AI usage in daily life, and finding ways to benefit from it. The project targeted youth workers, including technophobes, and gave priority to teachers. A total of 33 participants from 10 youth organizations were involved. The project sought to normalize the responsible use of AI, enhanced digital literacy, and helped participants identify AI-generated content. Instead of fearing the inevitable, participants were proactively prepared for the AI revolution. The specific objectives of this Professional Development Activity were: 1. Enhance AI literacy among youth workers: equip participants with a solid understanding of fundamental AI concepts, the European Union's strategy for AI development, and the ethical considerations surrounding AI's creation and use. 2. Cultivate practical AI skills: develop participants' practical abilities in applying AI knowledge through hands-on exercises, project-based learning, workshops focused on using AI tools to solve real-world challenges. 3. Foster responsible AI development by nurturing a sense of responsibility and critical thinking in participants. This included encouraging them to consider the ethical implications of AI development and its potential impact on society. 4. Establish a culture of knowledge sharing within the program by creating open educational resources, fostering collaboration between participants, and building connections with the broader AI education community and educators. 5. Raise public awareness about AI and its potential applications through participant-driven dissemination activities targeting the general public. "Generation AI" Erasmus+ PDA directly contributed to youth practice. The program addressed a crucial need by equipping youth workers with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly AI-powered world. Understanding AI concepts, the EU's AI strategy, and ethical considerations empowered them to become active participants and responsible leaders in the future of AI development. The program activities went beyond theoretical knowledge by providing opportunities for participants to develop practical skills through hands-on workshops and projects. This will allowed them to gain experience by applying their learnings to solve real-world AI challenges, preparing them for the future of youth work. By cultivating critical thinking skills and a sense of responsibility it encouraged youth workers to consider the ethical implications of AI development, empowering them to become responsible AI citizens who contribute to a future where AI benefits all.
