The initial idea put forward during discussions with partner organisations was to implement an inclusive and multi-level project with a topical and dynamic content. Through the project youth workers would be taught how to develop activities related to environmental awareness. Learning to handle new digital tools and techniques will equip them to implement their own needs-based projects. Youth workers will be able to use what they learn in their daily work, transferring these new skills to young people in their communities, in order to raise common awareness of environmental issues and at the same time address the problem of environmental sustainability in their area. In fact, the purpose of this programme is twofold. On the one hand, as mentioned in a first direction, the project aims to equip the participating Youth Workers to develop a deeper understanding of how to integrate environmental sustainability into their daily activities. On the other hand, in a second direction, it seeks to realize the above objective by equipping them with technological and digital skills. The project aims to create a ripple effect, with participants returning home equipped with skills and competences to inspire and lead similar initiatives, thus enhancing the impact of the Green Lens project across Europe. The “Green Lens” project fully complies with both the Erasmus+ objectives and the national priorities as set by the Greek Erasmus+ National Agency in the field of youth. The project also seeks to strengthen/improve the competences and skills of the participating Youth Workers, which are directly linked to their professional profile. As the training includes sessions where policies, strategies and practices will be presented and analysed, the project will allow participants to broaden their understanding and increase their knowledge. With the above in mind we essentially aim to promote youth work, practical application of digital technologies to promote environmental awareness and combat youth anchors in implementing these in the context of an international audience. The participatory nature of the project aims to offer the participating youth workers the opportunity to network, exchange experiences and best practices in order to promote cooperation between all of them to improve the quality of work. In summary, therefore, through the assistance of technology, youth workers will use digital tools to highlight the consequences of climate change. The project is going to be sustainable and dynamic as: - Activities for sustainable development will be organised - New educational digital tools will be created - Designing daily habits that will make participants' lives more environmentally riendly through good practices - Social impacts and aspects of climate change will be highlighted - It will empower youth workers to adopt and create their own practices based on their personal strengths, talents and preferences in the field of digital media. By focusing on this way of thinking and carefully selecting the participants, we aim to create a ripple effect where the skills and knowledge gained through the project are widely disseminated, leading to lasting changes in the way we work with young people in relation to our digital and environmental context. In summary, the “Green Lens” project aims to empower youth workers across Europe by strengthening their digital literacy skills, highlighting the importance of meaningful understanding, collaboration and empathy, and implementing environmental sustainability practices to promote inclusivity in youth work. By implementing this project, we seek to address the critical need for youth workers to be adept at using digital tools effectively, advocate for environmental sustainability in their communities, and ensure that youth work is accessible and beneficial to all, regardless of background or circumstance.
