Objectives

With the project Tales of Eutopia, we managed to create an experiential learning environment in the island of Milos that offered participants from Greece, Romania, Portugal, Italy and Turkey the opportunity to explore a variety of tools and their potential applications. As a final outcome, we achieved a virtual for sharing and communicating personal and professional narratives with a wider audience: the creation of a podcast series since podcasts have proved to be a widely accessible and engaging format for knowledge-sharing and open discussion across diverse fields. To reach this goal, we approached the creative process through three key methodologies: storytelling via theater, creative writing and the Formazione Esperienziale Metaforica technique. These approaches were supported by a range of teambuilding activities designed to foster personal reflection, relational interaction, and growth. Actually, they served as practical tools that our youth workers managed to integrate into their professional practice. Beyond the final product, the value of these techniques lay in their applicability within social work contexts since they facilitated relationship-building between youth workers and caretakers and after the TC the individuals they support. Our workshops functioned as methods of self-care, which proved essential for maintaining emotional balance and effectiveness in such roles. Overall, we strongly believed that this process has contributed to participants’ personal growth and empowerment by offering a methodology that facilitated the emergence, exploration, and management of both social and personal challenges. Drawing from our extensive experience working with groups in diverse settings, we identified specific tools that were particularly effective in supporting conflict management and crisis resolution. This insight guided us in designing this framework for experimentation and exploration in complete detail during the project with minor on-the-spot adaptations. Since this project was particularly made for people who engaged with groups of people with fewer opportunities, we are confident that we managed to offer them practical, adaptable tools to enhance their work and impact.
