The ByteBoost initiative was developed in response to an urgent need for digital skills across the European Union, especially among youth workers who are vital in enabling young people, especially those from underprivileged or marginalized backgrounds. 44% of Europeans lack fundamental digital abilities, according to the European Commission's Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) 2022. This percentage is much higher among particular categories, such as youth workers who are not given specialized training in digital competencies. The OECD Skills Outlook 2019 highlights that a deficiency in digital literacy impedes social inclusion, career prospects, and civic involvement. This issue primarily impacts marginalized youth, such as those classified as NEETs (not in work, education, or training). In order to close this skills gap, the ByteBoost initiative will concentrate on improving the capability of of youth workers to utilize digital tools for fostering inclusion, education, and social development. The goal of ByteBoost is to give youth workers the digital tools and skills they need to effectively help young people in a society that is fast becoming more digitally literate. As services become more digitally oriented and social media becomes the main channel for communication and community development, youth workers need to be highly digitally literate in order to guide and assist young people. 90% of professions in Europe today require at least rudimentary digital abilities, according to Eurostat (2021). However, only 58% of people between the ages of 16 and 24 have these skills, indicating a substantial disparity in young people's digital readiness. This divide encompasses not only technical proficiency but also responsible use of digital tools, online safety, and social inclusion. By equipping youth workers with the fundamental digital skills needed to assist youth in today's technologically advanced society, ByteBoost aims to meet this demand. ByteBoost's primary goal is to increase youth workers' proficiency with digital technologies, promoting social inclusion, improving youth employability, and helping to alter youth work practices in a more comprehensive way. Through its mostly online activities, the initiative aims to close the digital skills gap, support environmental sustainability, and promote inclusivity and diversity by making learning opportunities available to all participants. The program is designed to give youth workers thorough training and direction on how to use digital resources for learning, community participation, and youth empowerment. Critical topics like social media management, content production, online collaboration, and safe digital practices will all be covered in the program, allowing youth workers to incorporate these skills into their day-to-day work with young people and communities. One of ByteBoost's Professional Development Activities (PDA) is a training workshop in Siatista, Greece, where youth workers will learn how to create digital inclusion strategies and increase digital literacy using non-formal and informal learning methodologies. Sessions will include case studies, practical workshops, hands-on activities, and reflection exercises to provide participants the knowledge and self-assurance they need to involve young people in the digital space. Needs addressed: 1.Bridging the Digital Skills Gap, 2.Enhancing Social Inclusion through Digital Skills, 3.Improving Non-Formal Education Techniques, 4.Developing a Sustainable Network for Digital Inclusion, 5. Addressing Employment Gaps through Digital Competence. ByteBoost Oblectives: (1) Enhancing Digital Literacy: Equip youth workers with the skills to use digital tools effectively for youth engagement, content creation, and fostering digital communities.
