With this project titled "A Sustainable and Cultural Walk in Mallorca," we aim to empower young people in every sense. At the same time, we are convinced that this project positively impacts the well-being of the population as a whole, advocating for action against climate change and effectively promoting the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. We believe our initiative is genuinely promising, as its objectives are tangible, realistic, and, above all, highly beneficial for improving tourism not only at the local, regional, and European levels but also globally. After all, tourism is one of the main economic drivers today, and issues like overcrowding, saturation, and collapse are evident in many famous locations such as Mallorca, Venice, Rhodes, etc. Therefore, we need to raise awareness among all citizens, associations, businesses, institutions, governments, etc., about the existence of this problem and the need for solutions. And who better than young people, the true protagonists of the Erasmus program, to lead such an important initiative? In this sense, we advocate for the participation of young people in decision-making on relevant issues. Simultaneously, we emphasize the goal of enhancing European citizenship, fostering a sense of belonging to Europe, promoting youth mobility within the continent, and encouraging personal enrichment (acquisition of social skills, improved self-esteem, and leveraging each individual’s talent). In addition to this direct connection of young people with different European cultures, the project "A Sustainable and Cultural Walk in Mallorca" promotes awareness regarding environmental protection and natural spaces, warning about the increase in pollution and other abuses affecting the territory. Another line of action included in the project pertains to culture, human values (such as respect, tolerance, equality, solidarity, etc.), heritage, traditions, and gastronomy, which are all closely linked to the global phenomenon of tourism and are transversal to a significant number of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. For all these reasons, young people, the present and future of society, play a key and extraordinarily relevant role. And of course, our initiative is also in perfect alignment with the general and specific objectives of Erasmus and youth exchanges.
