At the MSB Circus School, we want to promote this initiative to provide our students with new tools and skills related to performing arts. We want them to experience and learn by discovering other talents, finding their new comfort zone. At the same time, after collaborating with LPA Juventud, we wanted to collaborate for the first time within the ERASMUS+ program, leveraging its resources and competencies to reach a greater number of young people on our island. LPA Juventud is a reference on the island due to its innovative activities, training sessions, and more. In one of these sessions, organized last May, we decided to take the first steps towards this idea, exploring new areas for both entities. Thanks to our previous projects within the ERASMUS+ program, we connected with partner organizations: Teatro Metaphora and Ung Arena Örebro Youth Center to involve them in this initiative and start this pilot proposal. We want to carry out this project because we have identified several critical needs affecting young people, particularly in terms of psycho-emotional well-being, mental health, and social inclusion. In the current context, young people face multiple challenges that have been exacerbated by the pandemic, such as increased stress, anxiety, and social isolation. We have observed that, in many cases, they lack safe spaces where they can express themselves freely and connect with others in meaningful ways. Theater and body expression present themselves as innovative and accessible tools to address these issues, offering young people a unique opportunity to develop emotional and social skills that are essential for their well-being and active participation in the community. These are effective tools, not available to all young people, that nonetheless allow them to connect with their bodies and minds, disconnect, and at the same time, create social bonds while working in an intercultural and interpersonal environment. It is from this shared space that each participant will have the opportunity to embark on their own process of personal development and self-discovery, guided by dynamics and tools that will deepen from the group and shared experience towards the individual and intimate. By leaving room for words, we will delve into the body as a tool for expression and regulation, we will approach emotions from different perspectives, and we will launch ourselves towards the appropriation of our stories and the healthy integration of their conflicts. All of this is aimed at transforming us more and more into active, capable subjects, open to the experience of life lived.
