Objectives

Our main motivation is to provide a safe space for people with disabilities and to promote activities and sports as tools to prevent social exclusion. Group activities and sports offer many benefits, such as fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and boosting self-esteem. However, there is still a lot of stigma surrounding people with disabilities, which is why we want to create this project to empower them and demonstrate that sports and games do not recognize barriers. According to Commission President Ursula von der Leyen: “Persons with disabilities have the right to have good conditions in the workplace, to live independently, to equal opportunities, to participate fully in the life of their community. All have a right to a life without barriers. And it is our obligation, as a community, to ensure their full participation in society, on an equal basis with others.” However, reality and data show that people with disabilities in Europe do not have the same opportunities as those without disabilities. There is a great need to ensure the safety of people with disabilities and promote a socially inclusive environment for them. It is also necessary to inform society about the needs that people with disabilities may have and to listen to what they themselves have to say, as there is still much stigma around some disabilities. Moreover, it is important to raise awareness of the rights of people with disabilities within the EU and to create a support network through NGOs and organizations, which is why cooperation between the participants of this project is a good initiative towards the main goal of fostering the social integration of this vulnerable group. OBJECTIVES: The goal of this project is to provide a safe space for young people with disabilities to discuss their problems and concerns, and together with all participants (with and without disabilities) to find practices and solutions to prevent and combat discrimination, as well as to promote social inclusion, by promoting sports and EU values and rights. The main objectives of this project will be: 1. Emphasize and promote common European (as well as universal) anti-discrimination rights. 2. Raise awareness among young people about the reality of people with disabilities. 3. Provide participants with tools they can use to support people with disabilities. 4. Promote dialogue between people with and without disabilities. 5. Increase awareness of the importance of inclusive activities that encourage the integration of people with and without disabilities. 6. Promote sports as a tool to prevent social exclusion. Participants in this project will learn from each other and live in an inclusive environment, as people with and without disabilities will live and do activities together. The project aims to demonstrate that barriers linked to discrimination can be broken down. Additionally, participants will not only develop more English skills, but also soft skills such as discussion abilities, critical thinking, and intercultural competencies.
