Objectives

By implementing the CLEAR Project, our primary aim is to promote ecologically sustainable tourism practices and foster environmental awareness among young people. The project’s objectives are centered around three key areas from the perspective of youth work practice, focusing on education, empowerment, and international collaboration. First, one of our core objectives is to expand participants' knowledge of the negative impacts of mass tourism on the environment and local communities. Many young people are unaware of the long-term effects of mass tourism, such as pollution, overcrowding, and the pressure it places on local resources and housing markets. We aim to equip participants with practical skills to mitigate these effects by promoting sustainable travel practices. These skills will be taught through presentations from experts on topics such as eco-friendly travel strategies, responsible resource management, and ways to reduce one’s carbon footprint while traveling. By gaining a deeper understanding of these issues, participants will leave the project with knowledge on how to reduce their impact on the environment and support local communities when traveling. Beyond just receiving information, participants will also actively contribute their own ideas and experiences related to sustainability. This collaborative learning approach ensures that participants are not only learners but also peer educators, facilitating a two-way exchange of knowledge. For example, participants might discuss challenges and solutions they’ve encountered in their efforts to travel sustainably or innovative ways they’ve seen communities address the pressures of tourism. This makes the learning experience more dynamic and ensures that participants are fully engaged. Active participation is at the heart of the CLEAR project’s approach. We aim to encourage youth engagement by involving participants in discussions, decision-making processes, and practical activities related to sustainable tourism. Through workshops and team-building exercises, participants will be involved in planning, preparing, and implementing different aspects of the project, giving them the opportunity to develop leadership skills. A critical objective of the CLEAR project is to ensure that participants also apply the knowledge they gain later. After the event, each participant will be encouraged to lead local initiatives in their home communities, such as organizing workshops, presentations, or campaigns on sustainable tourism. This approach aligns with the Erasmus+ programme’s focus on youth leadership, civic engagement, and active citizenship. By empowering participants to take what they’ve learned back to their communities, we aim to create a network of youth ambassadors for sustainability. Another key objective of the CLEAR project is to foster multinational collaboration and create a network of young individuals and organizations committed to sustainable tourism. By bringing together participants from diverse cultural and geographical backgrounds, we aim to facilitate intercultural exchange and promote the sharing of best practices related to sustainable tourism. We will follow up with participants after the project to encourage them to apply the sustainable tourism practices they learned in their home communities. Through these follow-up activities, we hope to establish participants as local ambassadors for sustainability, who will continue to share their knowledge and inspire others to adopt responsible travel behaviors. This long-term engagement helps to sustain the impact of the project and ensures that the lessons learned continue to influence local tourism practices. We also recognize the importance of digital engagement in today’s world. To further extend the reach of the project, we will use digital and social media platforms to disseminate the results of the CLEAR project. By sharing content such as videos, reports, infographics, and key takeaways, we aim to ensure that the knowledge gained during the project reaches a wider audience. This will include not only participants' communities but also young people, professionals, and organizations interested in sustainable tourism. By utilizing social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, we hope to create ongoing discussions and spread awareness about the importance of responsible travel. In summary, the CLEAR Project seeks to educate, engage, and empower young people to be leaders in sustainable tourism. We aim to foster responsible travel habits and build lasting connections across cultures, ensuring that the knowledge gained during the project continues to have a positive impact in the long term. These objectives align closely with the broader goals of youth work by promoting active citizenship, environmental responsibility, and international collaboration, all of which are essential for the development of socially responsible and globally minded youth leaders.
