Objectives

With the "Roots and Routes" project, our central goal is to empower young people through the promotion of cultural diversity, social inclusion, and the development of key competencies that will enable them to take an active role in their communities. From a youth work perspective, we aim to create a non-formal learning environment where participants can explore and value their own cultural roots while learning to respect and appreciate the diversity of their peers. 1. Main Objectives of the Project: Foster Social Inclusion and Active Participation: One of the fundamental goals of the project is to involve young people with fewer opportunities, such as those from rural areas, with economic difficulties, or social barriers. Through non-formal methods and intercultural activities, we aim to create an inclusive environment where these young people can develop their skills and feel valued. Additionally, the project aims to promote the active participation of young people in their communities, motivating them to become agents of social change, fostering inclusion and social cohesion in their local environments. 2. Promote Respect and Intercultural Understanding: We want young people to learn to value cultural diversity through interaction with peers from different countries and cultures. Activities like "Mapping Stereotypes" and the "Roots and Routes Festival" are designed to break stereotypes and encourage respectful intercultural dialogue, helping young people understand and appreciate the differences and similarities between their cultures. The project seeks to develop global awareness among participants, preparing them to be active and tolerant citizens in an increasingly diverse Europe. 3. Develop Key Competencies for the Future of Young People: Through the planned activities, the project aims to develop key competencies that are essential for the personal and professional development of young people, such as intercultural communication, teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution. These competencies, certified through Youthpass, will not only improve the employability of young people but will also allow them to apply what they have learned in their daily lives, promoting collaboration and understanding in their communities. 4. Strengthen Cultural Identity and Pride in Roots: Through activities that explore the participants' cultural roots, such as the "Cultural Family Tree," we want young people to develop a sense of pride in their own cultural identity. This self-awareness is essential for them to, in turn, respect and appreciate the cultural identities of others. The project also aims to encourage participants to reflect on how their cultures have been shaped by history, helping them better understand the importance of preserving and valuing cultural heritage. 5. Promote Youth Participation and Non-Formal Learning: Another key objective is to encourage the active participation of young people in non-formal learning processes, providing them with an environment where they can learn in a practical, creative, and collaborative way. Through interactive workshops and group reflections, we aim for young people to gain confidence in their abilities and commit to their personal development. The project seeks to demonstrate the value of non-formal learning in youth work, offering a space where young people can learn flexibly and participatively. With the "Roots and Routes" project, we aim to empower young people by developing key competencies, promoting social inclusion and cultural diversity, and strengthening their personal and collective identity. From a youth work perspective, the project offers a safe and enriching environment where young people can grow, learn, and actively contribute to a more inclusive and cohesive society.
